An imaginary spot, frozen in time, somewhere in the mid 80s, when the sawtooth waves of analogic synths, the pixel arrays of the early steps of electronic entertainment were lightened by neon skies. In such a place, projected dreams of Miami beaches, sun-heated Ferraris and high hip swimsuits were the horizon to look forward to, always a few steps away. Being sharp, in the notch of Reagan years, takes a lot of escapism, indeed.

Aaah, the golden age of spaceships. There was a time where innovation and experimentation were canon in the very moment of their creation. The work and stylistic cornerstones seen in album covers of the Progressive Rock scene found a virgin land to colonize in the literary and cinematic sci-fi production. Well, folks, all this wonderful paraphernalia is coming back in fashion. You may have not realized it yet, but, believe it or not, it is. Big fonts, stratospheres, huge jet exhausts and stuff. Good God, there is enough to have fun for a couple of years at least.

Galaxies became quite overused in the past two years. However, giving up all this star galore, for the only reason that legions of hipsters have used them always in the same way, felt like leaving the field without a fight. This is our attempt, it doesn’t look THAT hipster to force us go hiding behind the blackboard. At least for this year.

Believed to be the year calling for the End of the World, 2012 gig posters needed that little pinch of mysticism, in order to approach Doomsday with some esoteric swag on. So we put the excellent George Boorujy’s deer with some antelope antlers and a the never disappointing seven-pointed star. That’s it.

In the heyday of french touch style of electronic music, Dj Luca Benedet, formerly known as Piottinsky (laugh), needed all of the tron-inspired, early 80s sci-fi stuff put together in a somewhat coherent way. So triangles always work, while a laser lights grid and a steep, outrageous lettering do the rest. Twas fun.

So, electronic band Frontenac was looking for a lettering to match with both their whatsoever canadian swag and with the already mentioned early 80s retro style. So we kept an eye for the symmetry of the name, divided by the central “T”, and we revisited all the glorious clichés of the era. They were so happy that could not choose one. They disbanded the very day.

Aosta valley based band L’Orage managed to jump in the candy-sweet chariot of Major distribution, namely Sony Music Europe. When they asked us to design the cover of their first major debut, we were as excited as trembling. We feared that with whatever we could come out, the old fogeys at Sony Classical would change everything or fill the trash bin with our stuff. Well, the executive at Sony liked our bacàn style so much that he even managed to obtain that the print over the cd had to be with the original wood textures, bypassing Sony Classical strict policies. We drank La Veuve Clicquot, that evening.

The study of the design of this invitation was pretty straightforward: put the quite self-explanatory message into a late 70s disco environment. We made it all-vector though, just to show off some awesomeness. The Candy Aliens logo is our stuff as well. Nice, eh?

Before the patch preceding Cataclysm expansion hit live servers, Blizzard Entertainment launched an art contest to introduce the amazing events that were about to take place in the game. Long story short, there’s this huge dragon destroying half of the world. We thought such an event has to be celebrated with beer (like pretty much any event). So we designed the label of an actual in-game beer, Thunderbrew 45, and made an advertising poster of it. Yeah, we know what you’re thinking by now, the answer is no.

Well, this was the mock-up of a flyer introducing an upcoming music festival in Aosta, Italy. We did not know the band names, so we took some screenshots from a game called Rockband and put down some fictional names. Btw, they ditched the “rock” part and it became Sound festival, with artists like Paul Young. The whole thing evolved, during the years, into a techno something festival, meh. Leech O’Jelly was damn fun though.
